Hi,

My name is Bob Maddison and I am an artist and photographer living in a small village called Allenheads in the Northern Pennines of the United Kingdom. I opened a studio in the village in 1985 and have painted and sold my work from there ever since. Allenheads is one of the highest villages in England and is a great place to live and work.

The goal that I am setting myself within this blog is to publish helpful information for both new up and coming artists and photographers as well as for more established artists. One of the problems that I have when I am reading information about the arts is that I read it and then I start wondering what I am reading about. I have supported myself and family all of my life through my artwork and I still haven’t come to terms with the “art speak” that is so common in the art world. It is as though the art world is using a code that only they know. I find it vague and very confusing. I hope that you will find that when I have something to say, I say it simply straight to the point.

I specialise in watercolour, drawing (graphite and coloured pencils) and photography. If you have any questions related to these techniques, or to anything art related I would love to hear from you. If I can help I will.- If I cannot help I will tell you. I won’t pretend that I know and give you rubbish information.
